Joel is the Head of Community at Blackbird Ventures, an Australian venture capital company with investment in startups including Canva, Safety Culture, Culture Amp, Shoes of Prey, Zoox and Autopilot. He works on building community in Australia’s startup ecosystem and Blackbird’s portfolio companies. Prior to Blackbird, Joel was the founder of artist management company, Umbrella. He managed planting selling Australian bands including The Rubens, Cloud Control and Urthboy. Joel was also the Co-founder and Festival Director of Sydney Craft Beer Week - one of Australia’s largest celebrations of craft beer with over 130 events across Sydney each year.
